Prayer is not about altering the course of events, rather about enabling us to accept whatever hand fate has dealt us. (Prayer, p101)
We need to accept the harsh medicine that is necessary to bring about some greater good. (Prayer, p133)
The good news that God loves us, just as we are, and that this love is available to us if we only turn to God and ACCEPT it. This gives us the strength and the courage so that we can struggle and grow. THIS SENSE OF BEING ACCEPTED IS WHAT MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR US TO BE ACCEPTING OF OTHERS IN TURN. ONCE OUR OWN SELF-WORTH IS NOT DEPENDENT UPON BEING BETTER THAN OTHERS or on being admired by others or on winning over others in one way or another, then we are able to accept other persons and accept them for who they really are. The person who is secure [with God] in their acceptance is much more able to hold to their principles (as opposed to their pride) in the face of the opposition and displeasure of others. (Common Sense, p175-177)
Jesus challenges us to accept or reject the message. If we accept the message, if we focus our understanding of God and life around this message, if we live toward God and in right relationship with others with Jesus as our compass, then for us he is indeed the CHRIST. (Common Sense, p244)
*SELF-ACCEPTANCE
The way of peace begins with self-acceptance. Without self-acceptance, people see life as a constant struggle, making war on themselves and others at home, on the job, in relationships. (Tao Peace, p49)
