The original meaning of the term glory was, brightness, clearness, effulgence; from that it has come to signify:

3. the condition of being very important, successful, etc

The presence of God and his glory could be illustrated by the sun. In the Garden of Eden, His presence may have been the blazing, visible glory. (The God You Can Know, p33)
All sin, at its root, is failing to give God glory. Refusing to bring glory to God is prideful rebellion, the sin that caused Satan's fall - and ours too. In different ways we have all lived for our own glory, not God's. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. In the OT, the divine "energy" had been called God's "glory". (p220, A [history of god?]
During Lent I tried to lose weight, but actually ended up gaining weight. On my own I am not capable, but with this realization and repentance I now hand over to "let God be God" and heal me in ways that I could not even imagine. For example, healing my prostate infection which was so obscure and dragging me down Is it an evil caused by the sin of getting fixed? (Randy)
