Antonyms: DOUBT

Definition:

1. reliance on the integrity, justice, etc. of a person; confidence.

2. confident expectation of something; hope. (Dict)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own insight (Prov 3:5) Why trust God? Maybe it is because the tapestry of the divine plan is so infinitely complex as to be beyond our comprehension. (Prayer, p201)

The world of faith in a loving God presents, not a rationall answer for the presence of sufferings in all human lives, but a faith and trust in God's goodness and power to draw out of such darkness new creative manifestations of his glory. (Trust, p102)

"Trust the process without seeking to control (Tao 2)." We cannot change the cycles of life to suit ourselves, but we can learn to flow with them. Letting go of our attachment to the outcome dispels our fear of failure, for success and failure are polarities that emerge when when we try to control things. The Tao transcends polarities. Mysterious promise that "in all things God works for the good of those who love Him" (Rom 8:28). We do not yet possess the full light of the remote. We are still looking into a dark mirror, but we are not utterly devoid of light. To TRUST in the good purpose of God is the very essence of godly faith. (Vanity, p50)

When you are having periods of trial ("dark nights") of purification, you are a very poor judge of your own case. One of the trials you have to expect is being unable to find anyone who can help you. God may arrange it that way so that you have to put your TRUST in Him. (Open Mind, p92)
