*MEEK - see HUMBLE
When love finds wisdom. Two levels of meekness are realization of:
- our own sinfulness/wretchedness
- God's goodness (Cloud of Unknowing, p23)
When you are meek you don't need a lot of followers, you just need a lot of truth. (Poem "Blest Are the Lowly: They Shall Inherit the Land" by ????)
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. (Matt 5: )
Blessed Are the Meek - Marketplace Spirituality - by Fr. Yalzel 3/4/97
Meek means being humble or last (the last shall be first (???)). To be happy, we have to acknowledge that we are nothing without God. We need to get rid of the wrong kind of pride that makes us think we are better than someone else. We're never comfortable with silence, but it's then we get to know God, just like the Jews did wandering in the desert for 40 years. Meekness is accepting the will of God embracing whatever he sends into our life. Meekness is finding salvation and holiness right here, not caring for who gets the credit, overcome evil with good, being a person of moderation, and living simply and self-denial. How can I be holy? Will it!
