*JOB
Christ is the second Job who showed the world the real meaning of innocent suffering on the hill of Calvary. God offered the human race the opportunity to transform temporal defeats into eternal viccctories through union with the suffering Christ. (ReadingOT2, p68)
The suffering Christ is the second job. (Guide, p68)
Christians so often sound like the "friends" of Job: the poor deserve their condition because they are lazy and wasteful; the sick are justly punished for their sins and excesses, etc. Is our attitude at hospitals, wakes, and funerals to try to "suffer with" the bereaved or is it merely an opportunity for social or business contacts? (Guide, p69)
