Freud recognized the relationship between healing and consciousness. (Further, p25)
The healing that we receive may not be for our physical bodies, but for our souls to prepare us to meet our Maker peacefully and with good conscience - see holistic. (Prayer, p139)
The purpose of "A Course in Miracles" is to be an agent of healing [of relationships by our choice to forgive]. We feel separated from God which is a conflict in our own mind. (p3) A miracle is also divine intervention in our minds which heals our thought-patterns. (p7) It is a course in the healing of relationships. (p8) The undoing of the ego is the restoration of our mind's broken relationship with reality, a reuniting with ourselves, others, and God. (p31) (ACIM Intro)
According to Henri Nouwen, author of The Wounded Healer, the Christian must be willing to use his or her own pain to help others who are in search of wholeness. We cannot help others unless we are willing to enter into their pain. Christ could save because he suffered. "Upon him was the chastisement that made us whole and with his stripes we are healed." (Is 53:5) Out of brokenness comes wholeness. (Transcend, p220)
If you are healthy, everyone can benefit from it. You are interrelated to everyone and everything and that every act is linked with the whole of humankind and the whole cosmos. To keep yourself healthy in body and mind is to be kind to all beings. (Buddha, Christ, p106)
There is a lot of science behind the fact that love is a force in nature heals... Eat right. The mind and body are connected. Avoid stress. The mind and body are connected. Purify your heart. The mind and body are connected. (Chopra, PS, 2/8/97?)
In the prayer of St. Francis, "not to be understood / loved, but to understand / love" is to stop focusing on self to find the peace we seek. It demands a humility to see ourself as God sees us so that the healing can start. God does not comfort us to make us comfortable, but to make us comforters. (recording w/ Francisan Friars, 11/13/96)
Conversion brings a healing that derives from the health in the source. To become conscious of this source and to draw life from it brings the fullness of life. "Healthy" and "holy" are words from the same root. Holiness should be the state of a normal person. To be holy means to be a source of health for others. (Contemplation, p55)
The death of the Messiah provides the solution to our spiritual deadness. Our sins are forgiven because He once for all cleansed us when He was crucified. Hence, by His physical death, we are granted spiritual healing. Healing from the sins that kept us from God, healings from the overcoming power and influence of
our adversary, healing from the grave that once frighten us, and healing from death that would otherwise conquer us. God promises to heal all of us of all illness and affliction once we pass from this life into glory. (Flying, p232)
Jesus the Healer comes when we are conscious that we need a healer; when we become conscious of our own egoism, all the anarchy of desire, all the fears, all the cowardice and weakness, all the need for human security that incites us to possess. It is only when we become conscious of our weakness and our fears that we can begin to grow in union with the Spirit. (p39, Be Not Afraid by Jean Vanier)
We begin to sense our poverty when we begin to sense how far away we are from the Master of the Beatitudes, when we begin to sense how little we love our enemies, how aggressive we are... We begin to sense that we need to be healed and to be transformed, because God is calling us to do something that we cannot possibly do by ourselves... When we begin to sense all the security we have in our lives that prevents us opening ourselves to the Spirit, when we sense how comfortable we are, how we seek comfort rather than compassion and love - then we are preparaing the road to transformation. (p107, Be Not Afraid by Jean Vanier)
This is the promise of God which permits us to do those things that we cannot do ourselves - to love as Jesus loves, to enter into the paths of the Beatitudes, to become poor and loving, to become gentle and peaceful, to become strong and to search for justice at all times. This is what the HEALING power of the Spirit is for, this power which transforms us and makes us real disciples of Jesus... He will give us the courage to forgive. (p111, Be Not Afraid by Jean Vanier)
Love is the single most healing energy we have. (Awakening, p41)
Music can be a source of great healing. (Awakening, p70)
Broken bones can heal in 5-6 weeks, but broken relationships and feelings sometimes never heal or leave a bigger scar. For example, when Randy broke Ryan's arm, if I had beat the hell out of Randy rather than forgiving him, then that may have broke off our great rapor/relationship. (Randy)
