Boccia gala day
Organisation
In the week prior to the gala day, organise students into teams.
Students may be given time to create signs to support their team at the gala day.
Select a student from each team to be the team captain for the gala day.
Set-up Boccia games as a circuit for teams to rotate around. 2 teams should be playing against each other at a station each rotation. Games for the gala day include:

Use chalk or masking tape to mark 'players box'.
Place 6 hoops at various distances from the 'players box'.
Use chalk to write point scores in the 6 hoops.
How to play
Teams
Play red vs blue.
Each team takes it in turns to play their 6 balls.
Points are scored if the ball rests in the target hoop.
Players may knock opposing teams balls out of target hoops.
Once all balls played, calculate each team’s score. Team's score equals the total sum of each target hoop scored in.
Safety
No one enters the target area during play.
Players do not retrieve balls until the round is finished.
Ensure sufficient space between Boccia games in the circuit. .

Use chalk or masking tape to mark 2 lines, 30cm apart.
Place 6 target balls of the same colour in a row, 30cm apart and 30cm in front of the back line.
Use chalk or masking tape to make the propelling line 3m from the target balls.
How to play
Teams
Play red vs blue.
Red team aims at 6 blue target balls to achieve score.
Each target ball knocked over the far line scores 6 points.
Blue team aims at 6 red target balls to achieve score.
Each target ball knocked over the far line scores 6 points.
Highest score wins.
Safety
No one enters the target area during play.
Players do not retrieve balls until the round is finished.
Ensure sufficient space between Boccia games in the circuit. .

Activity set-up
Use chalk or masking tape to draw a circle approximately 1m in diameter for players to propel from.
Place 12 hoops at a distance of 2m around the throwing circe to create a 'clock face'.
Use chalk to write point scores in the 12 hoops.
How to play
Teams
Play red vs blue.
Each team takes it in turns to play 12 balls.
Player 1 begins at hoop target 1, if succesful player 2 moves on to target hoop 2, next aims for hoop target 3 and so on.
Players cannot move to next number until previous target achieved.
Each ball that remains in a hoop target scores 10 points.
Red team plays and then blue team plays. Highest team score wins.
Safety

Players do not retrieve balls until the round is finished.
Ensure sufficient space between Boccia games in the circuit. .

Use chalk or masking tape to mark 3 sectors as shown in diagram.
Label an A4 piece of paper with '50' and place above the marked sectors.
Draw propel line 2m from closest sector.
How to play
Teams
Play red vs blue.
Each team takes it in turns to play their 6 balls.
Calculate score based on the value of each sectors the balls land in.
Each ball counts - teams can score multiple times in a sector.
Players may knock oppositions balls out of a sector.
Safety
No one enters the target area during play.
Players do not retrieve balls until the round is finished.
Ensure sufficient space between Boccia games in the circuit.
