Players participate in the games as a team.
Select a student from each team to be the team captain for the gala-day.
Fast start - Passing challenge
Equipment: 2 pieces of equipment per group (for example, markers, bean bags, balls, hoops)
How to play:
Divide students into groups of 3-4.
Provide each group with two pieces of equipment (for example, one ball and one marker).
Groups form lines and pass the equipment to each other along the line using the instructions given by the teacher (for example, over the head, lefthand only or through the legs).
Small sided games
Kicking Mini Golf
Equipment: Marker cones for the teeing area, hoops, ropes or similar to act as greens, and stakes/flags, a boundary line at the edge of the playing area to mark out-of-bounds, roped areas or mats to act as hazards, obstructions e.g. milk crates, bins, chairs, 1 soccer ball (or similar) per player.
How to play: Players play a course set out like a real course. Scoring is in Ambrose format. (Play in teams of 3 or 4.)
Set up a course outside, with around 5–9 holes (depending on the time available).
For each hole, set up a tee (marker cones), hazards (ropes or mats), obstructions (chairs or bins) and a green (hoops or a roped area).
Each team starts at a different tee.
All players kick their first shot.
Players then pick the best shot and all kick their second shot from that spot.
This continues until the ball is on the green.
Ambrose scoring
The number of ’selected’ (best) shots count (individual shots do not).
