Create hand-built and wheel-thrown high fired ceramic pieces using stoneware clay. Methods used include pinch, coil, slab, modeling, and wheel. Creativity, craftsmanship, workmanship, and design are all emphasized and evaluated. Future Ready Skills, to better prepare students for all careers, are a significant focus of all visual arts courses. Ceramics and Advanced Ceramics or Sculpture (in addition to Visual Art Foundations) may be taken in preparation for the AP Art and Design 3D portfolio. This course is recommended for all students, especially those interested in the Arts, Audio/Video Technology, and Communications career pathways.
