Student supplied safety glasses and welding gloves are required.

This two quarter elective course engages 10-12 grade students to expand metallurgy and process knowledge through inspection, testing, and project design applications. Explore and apply the GTAW (TIG) welding process on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Advance previously learned process knowledge and skills through time management, destructive and nondestructive testing methods, weld procedures, and all position welding. Testing aligned with the American Welding Society (AWE) SENSE Level 1 Certificate. Future career opportunities are examined for Youth Apprenticeship and SkillsUSA participation.
