Earth Science
Earth Science is a requirement for graduation and is taken in grades 10, 11 or 12.
Chemistry Courses
The Science Department offers three different introductory chemistry courses. Students can choose from Basic Chemistry, General Chemistry, or Accelerated Chemistry. AP Chemistry is also offered to students who wish to continue their study of chemistry.
Note: Basic Chemistry is not considered a college-preparatory class for students wishing to attend a four-year college or university and may not meet the requirements for some technical college programs.
Physics Courses
The Science Department offers two different introductory physics courses. Students can choose from Basic Physics or General Physics. AP Physics 1 is also offered to students who wish to continue their study of Physics.
Note: Basic Physics is not considered a college-preparatory class for students wishing to attend a four-year college or university and may not meet the requirements for some technical college programs.
Science Electives
A half credit of any Science Elective is required for students who took both Basic Chemistry and Basic Physics. Students may choose any of these electives to fulfil this graduation requirement.
Specialty Science Courses
These courses do not count towards the science requirement but may be taken as an elective.
Equivalent Science (ES) Courses
Students taking these agriculture courses will earn science credit instead of elective credit. These courses will count towards the science elective graduation requirement for those that need it.
