American Government is designed to enrich the student's understanding of democracy in America.  Students will learn about the ideals and key principles that characterize American democracy.  They will study the events that led to the development of American democracy.  They will learn how the resiliency of the U.S. Constitution contributed to the strength of the government it created.  Students will discover which powers were given to Congress, and the formal and informal powers given to the Presidency.  They will discover how the Supreme Court carries out its responsibility of judicial review.  Students will learn how our state government is organized and how it functions in our federal system of government.
