Ninth grade students study basic composition skills using Writers’ Notebooks and the Six Traits of Writing.  First/second quarter units studied include Greek mythology including the study of word stems, and literary elements using the short story and choice books.  Third/fourth quarter gives special emphasis to the history of the theatre, Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare, and the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. Students will also participate in an online informational text unit and independent reading.
