Social Studies Graduation Requirements - 3.5 Credits

Grade 9

World History - 1 credit

AP Human Geography - 1 credit

Grade 10

US History - 1 credit
- or -
AP US History - 1 credit

Grade 11

American Government- .5 credit
Economics - .5 credit

Social Studies Elective - .5 credit

*American Government, Economics and the Social Studies Elective can all be taken in either grade 11 or 12. Only .5 credit is required for each course.

Grade 12

American Government- .5 credit
Economics - .5 credit

Social Studies Elective - .5 credit

Grade 9: World History

World History is required for all freshman students. Students can choose to take AP Human Geography in place of World History, which also fulfils the world history graduation requirement. AP Human Geography is only open to freshman students and cannot be taken at a later time.

Grade 10: US History

US History is required for all sophomore students. Students can choose to take AP US History in place of regular US History. AP US History is open to grades 10, 11 and 12 and can be taken as an elective at a later time.

Grade 11 and 12: American Government and Economics

American Government and Economics can be taken in either grade 11 or 12.
AP US Government & Politics can be taken in place of, or in addition to, American Government.

Social Studies Electives

A half credit of any Social Studies Elective is required for graduation. Students may choose from any of these electives, AP US History, or AP US Government, to fulfil this graduation requirement.
