A significant focus of this course is preparing students for successful completion of the national course specific AP Examination given in May of each year. Students who pass the exam may earn college credit(s). A fee is charged for taking this exam.

Advanced Placement Chemistry is a lab-oriented second-year course designed to better prepare students who anticipate careers in science, medicine, engineering, or science related fields. AP Chemistry is also appropriate for students who hope to test out of chemistry to pursue other interests in college. Subject matter concentrates on topics usually covered in typical college freshman chemistry courses, such as bonding, equilibrium, kinetics, acids and bases, electrochemistry, and analysis.
