AP Statistics

Open to grades 10, 11, and 12

Prerequisite: Proficiency in courses through Algebra 2 with recommended minimum grade of C or higher. Proficiency in Intro to Probability & Statistics would be beneficial prior to AP Statistics enrollment but not required. This course is open to any student willing to accept the challenge of college level work.

Two Quarters - 1 Credit

Credit Group: Mathematics

Students will learn about the major concepts and tools used for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. They will explore statistics through discussion and activities, and design surveys and experiments. Students will use analytical thinking and processing skills to build understanding of: selecting methods for collecting or analyzing data, describing patterns, trends, associations, and relationships in data, using probability and simulation to describe probability distributions and define uncertainty in statistical inference, and using statistical reasoning to draw appropriate conclusions and justify claims. A TI-84 graphing calculator is recommended.
