A significant focus of this course is preparing students for successful completion of the national course specific AP Examination given in May of each year. Students who pass the exam may earn college credit(s). A fee is charged for taking this exam.

Explore the history of art from ancient times to the present, increasing knowledge of world history to a college level understanding of Art History. Through readings, research, digital images, videos and museum visits, students will view significant artworks from around the world.  Writing skills will be important in the description, analysis, and comparison of these works. Visual analysis is an integral part of projects/activities/assignments. Students create visual and written records of content, observations, online collaborative class discussion on significant historical events, art periods/styles, specific artworks and issues/themes. AP Art History helps to make every student a more global citizen and is especially helpful for students interested in Hospitality and Tourism, Architecture and Construction, Education and Training and Arts, Audio/Video Technology and Communications.


Field Trip Requirement:  AP requires a field trip to see actual works included in the AP Art History curriculum.
