Wedding Napkin

This piece is in the form of a napkin, an object associated with domesticity and the home, and thus associated also with womanhood. I have embroidered the figures of a bride and groom in red thread, alluding to the American tradition of women creating redline embroidery for their homes. The figures are headless, as I hoped to evoke the institution of marriage, but with the anonymity and possibilities which a child might associate with it.
