ULTRA HAPPY

Acrylic on paper, 50.8 x 81.6 cm, November 2019

When I look at this piece I see a complex arrangement of geometric shapes and colors made out of love and understanding. There is a free-flowings to this piece which I believe encompasses my work and my thought process. My inspiration for the piece came from flipping through my father’s books on the Beatles and coming across an image of the Yellow Submarine. I was drawn to the bold use of colors, and how they are able to compliment each other throughout the piece. This particular moment gave me flashbacks to my memories as a child watching the ‘Yellow Submarine’ over and over again, yet again evoking the theme of childhood innocence and exploration. This therefore connects to one of my primary themes as an artist of exploring what makes me who I am.
