Cuban Parallax

Woodprint, 18 x 18, January 2019

Cuban Parallax is based on an image I took in Havana. It was my first woodcut, and I decided to remove everything aside from the pure architecture and the depth of the image. I spent weeks carving it with grooves that followed the point of view despite knowing that those grooves probably wouldn’t even show up on the print. I really wanted it to feel like a place you could step into. I think I got close to that in the end, I’m very satisfied with how it came out.
