Dear Loved One…

Tracing Paper, Newsprint, Ink, frame, 3’ by 2’, 10/5/18-12/17/18

I have explored the way that I can use a different font in order to give it a more tangible and personal touch. Likewise, I experimented with the medium of ink and how I could press on the dip pen with different pressures in order to give it a more fine or thick font. Additionally, I used newsprint and tracing paper because the ink didn’t bleed or seep through and allowed the text to be legible. It also contributed to the idea of the piece being intimate due to the content, but most public due to the way that it is displayed. Lastly, I had to try different compositions in order to make the piece seem more real and more natural rather than artificial and too geometric. The choice to use a frame to persevere the moment contributes to the theme of compartmentalization in my body of work.
