This painting was inspired by my love for the ocean and surfing. For me, surfing is my form of meditation. It allows me to temporarily escape from any feeling of responsibility or pressure, as while I am out in the water, nothing on the shore matters. My idea for this piece came more directly from the designs I tend to do on my surfboards, and how through art I give each board its own identity. My favorite board features a lightning bolt at the top, and this detail is what propelled me into making a large scale piece combining my surfboard art with its natural setting, the ocean.
