Macy

Acrylic paint on canvas 101 cm x 76 cm December 2018

This painting is inspired from a photograph of my dog, Macy, on a walk in the snowy fields. When I painted this, she was suffering from an aggressive cancer. I chose to paint one of the most photogenic photos we have of her. I wanted to freeze that moment in time so I could remember her at her finest. I also knew how posed the picture appeared to be, it almost looked photoshopped, but by painting it I was treasuring the memory associated with it and would always remember it’s authenticity.
