A Girl and her Violets

Digital 114” x 36” March 2020

Through this body of work, I have explored the way in which digital wallpaper can be used as an art form to present an important idea or message. This piece depicts indifference and the isolation that comes with it. To portray this message I have experimented with the repetition of violet to symbolize someone who is the “normal person”. The fewer peonies, in the piece, represent the person that is feeling singled out or different from the rest. The choice to single out the peonies comes from the feeling of isolation and how one may feel different from the rest. The purpose of this piece is to take a repeated subject matter, in a simple composition, and create an underlying message that is significant to me and share it with an audience. I wanted to create a piece where the viewer could connect with it in their own way.
