The themes that are present in this series of work are memories of a small island off the coast of Cape Cod called Nantucket. Nantucket. This place is very significant to me and my family. Each piece represents a different sky from Nantucket that I have witnessed. Each individual piece also brings up a different memory of being with family in Nantucket. This series of work builds upon the themes and ideas of significant parts of my life, family, memories, and locations. The subject matter in this piece is of many sunsets from Nantucket. The series presents a subject matter that is all about the sky. There are no land or people. This allows the viewer to focus on the vibrant colors and engulf themselves within the sunset or sunrise. Furthermore, the sky is what is important, it resembles an important memory that has happened during the time this sunset or sunrise occurred. The idea of this subject matter is more important and significant than just the sky itself. It symbolizes a memory that is held and cherished between me and my family. Through my body of work, I hope to allow the viewer to immerse themselves within the sunsets.
