For this piece, I was inspired by Zanele Muholi’s activism work displayed through her photography and documentaries. The eyes on the subject are white; My intent was for the viewer to see past the subject as a particular person and look deeper into what it means to be a black woman. I used intricate patterns in the background to display the beautiful black woman bring to the world.
