The Eyes of My Home

Oil on wood 20 cm x 20 cm February 2020

This image depicts a painting that has been in both of my childhood homes. My mother kept it because she said something about the lady reminded her of me. The painting is small in size, so I wanted to make both the canvas and frame small to demonstrate its subtle and intimate quality. Choosing to paint the wood and the frame, and not just the woman, shows how her importance comes from her relationship to the home.
