Joppe Lindroth was featured in the cover story of a Finnish sports magazine, Urheilija, October 1929.
Finland finally reached international-level heights in the pole vault when John "Joppe" Lindroth cleared the bar set at 4.01 (13-1¾) on his second attempt. This historic Finnish best and third-highest jump in Europe was witnessed at the HKV (Helsinki Athletic Club) competitions on September 22nd at Helsinki's Eläintarha Grounds.
Lindroth improved the Finnish record several times between 1928 and 1931, raising it from 3.81 (12-6) to 4.03 (13-2¾). In 1934, he won the bronze at the European Championships.
