Boston, MA, April 19, 1929
The traditional Boston Marathon was run in April. Canadian Johnny Miles, who had a disappointing result (17th place) in the Amsterdam Olympics, repeated his 1926 feat and trotted to victory with a time of 2:33:08. Finnish-American Yrjö Korholin-Koski, also known by his stage name Karl Koski, placed second, and Ville Kyrönen took third. Again this year, the course was slightly more than a kilometer short, so 4–5 minutes should be added to the times.
Korholin-Koski continued his strong performances in Boston, having already beaten his competitors in a 44-mile race from Providence to Boston in March.
