Finland achieved a double victory in the 6-mile race at the Metropolitan Association Championships in the New York area. Ville Kyrönen, who owned a small bakery in the Big Apple, run to victory, and Ilmari Prim strolled to second place. Ville Ritola did not participate.
Nordic performances were not limited to the 6-mile race, as Sweden's Carl-Axel Christiernsson sprinted to victory in the high hurdles.
In the 100-yard dash, some of America's fastest men crouched in the starting blocks. Loren Murchison dashed to victory in one of the last races of his career before a severe paralysis. Jackson Scholz was left behind, as was Chester Bowman, the winner of the IC4A championships.
In the 220-yard dash, Scholz surged to victory, as befitting a 200-meter Olympic champion. Bowman finished third.
The "Wolf of Peräseinäjoki" began to regain his running form in late autumn 1925. He won the US 10-mile championship as a test. He was also unstoppable at the Metropolitan cross-country championships. German Wachsmuth tried to draft behind him but had to give up after less than a mile.
The Finnish-American Athletic Club performed well in the team competition. In addition to Ritola's victory, Yrjö Korholin-Koski (pen name Karl Koski) finished third, Ilmari Prim fourth, Ville Kyrönen sixth, Lauri (Leonard) Tikkanen eighth, and David Fagerlund ninth.
