Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, NE, May 22, 1926
Roland Locke ran his season's second-fastest 220 yards, clocking the second-fastest time ever recorded, 20.7, at the Missouri Valley Conference championships. Officially, only Locke himself had run 220 yards faster (his 20.5), although that result is questioned.
In the 100 yards, the University of Nebraska man clocked 9.6, which was accepted as equaling the US record. The meet took place at the University of Nebraska's Memorial Stadium track, which some American sports journalists called the fastest in the West.
