Frankfurt am Main, September 2, 1928
On the same early September day, Germany held two international meets, perhaps in a fit of slight arrogance, splitting its national team's forces between two different locations. While Berlin hosted the competition against France, Frankfurt am Main faced an old acquaintance, Switzerland.
The best result of the Switzerland match came from Emil Hirschfeld, the Amsterdam Olympic Games shot put bronze medalist, who launched the brass ball to a distance of 15.57 (51-1). The result even surpassed Ralph Rose's 19-year-old world record, although it did not come close to Hirschfeld's own world record of 16.04 (52-7½), which he had boomed out in Bochum just a few days earlier.
Even with its B-team, Germany defeated Switzerland and sternly moved to an 8–0 lead in the all-time Germany v Switzerland match victories.
