Stamford Bridge, London, July 30, 1927
The toughest battle at the Great Britain vs. France dual meet took place in the 800. Olympic champion Douglas Lowe and France's rising star, Séra Martin, surged across the finish line side-by-side, both clocking 1:54.2.
Britain's John Moore won the 1500 with a personal best of 3:59.0. His compatriot Stanley Ashby launched a kick 300 metres from the finish, but Moore was unfazed and powered himself to first place in the final 200 metres. He emerged from obscurity and disappeared back into it after 1927; for instance, Moore never once medalled at the British Championships (AAA).
France's André Mourlon started the 100 metres like a shot from a cannon but had to pull out after 70 metres. Future Olympic silver medallist Jack London secured the victory in the event for the island nation.
Britain won the dual meet convincingly by a score of 66–45. In the all-time dual meet victory table, Britain extended its lead to 5–1.
