Stade de Colombes, Paris, France, May 3-6, 1923
The world's fastest man, Charley Paddock, competed again in Paris in May. Paddock had made his international breakthrough in the same city at the Allied Games of 1919. On this occasion, the Californian speedster tied his 100-meter world record of 10.4 and dashed the half-longer distance in 21.2 in the international students' meet. Both were enough for the world's top performance in 1923. Paddock lost his amateur rights for six months as the speedster competed in Europe without the blessing of the AAU.
