Richmond, CA, September 27, 1925
In September in Richmond, near his new hometown of San Francisco, Jonni Myyrä threw the javelin 68.55 meters (224-11). The mark was not ratified as a world record because the competition was not sanctioned by the Amateur Athletic Union of America. In the record books, most of Myyrä's competitions during his exile in the USA are classified as exhibition events, and their results have not been widely acknowledged in the record lists.
In a letter sent to Finland, Myyrä criticized the runway in Richmond as poor, although he otherwise considered the result worthy of a record.
