The USA National Championships were held at Randall's Island field in New York City on June 19-20, 1942. Approximately 12,000 fans witnessed the competitions on June 19 at the sun-flooded stadium.
Hal "California Comet" Davis, who equalled Jesse Owen's world record for 100m of 10.2 one year earlier, claimed his second US title in the 100m (10.5).
Al Blozis secured the national title in the shot put by throwing 16.36m (53-8 3/8)).
Bill Cummins is the fastest in the high hurdles.
Finally, Cornelius "Dutch" Warmerdam clears 4.63m (15-2 1/4) and takes an overwhelming victory in the pole vault. 4.63m is his third best outdoor mark in the year 1942. .
