Only six men have held the Finnish triple jump national record in the last 100 years. In July 1939, European champion Onni Rajasaari from Hanko leaped to a distance of 15.52m (50-11) in Lahti, breaking Vilho Tuulos's 16-year-old national record. The European record also fell.
Rajasaari's record lasted for 17 years until it was surpassed by Kari Rahkamo. A special mention goes to Pertti Pousi, whose mark of 17.00m (55-9 1/4) remained untouched for 49 years.
