Eddie Tolan won both the 100 and 200 at the Charlottenburg Games in Berlin with times of 10.4 and 21.3. In both races, Eugen Eldracher had a clear view of the American’s spike pattern from behind. In the 200, Tolan also outpaced Olympic bronze medallist Helmut Körnig, who finished third on Berlin’s oversized track.
Italy’s rising star Luigi Facelli ran a powerful 400m with hurdles in 52.6, setting a new European record. The Italian put in a hard day’s work, also breaking his country’s record in the sprint hurdles with 15.1.
