Basomtso Lake from the last Observation Tower deck . . . we were driven to this Point by an e-Bus from the Entry Gate
2nd November 2025 - Drive from Nyingchi to Lhasa
Today we have a long drive to Lhasa of nearly 7 Hours (470 KMs) plus two important Sights to See stops on the way:
(1) Kadinggou National Scenic Spot - on G318 Highway
(2) Basomtso Lake - was a little bit of detour to the North from G318.
The 2nd one above we got added as a bonus from Woeser Phel, the owner of our "Road to Tibet" Tibet Agency; to 'compensate' for the disappointment of not seeing Namche Barwa yesterday (due to cloudy weather at that view point!) btw: I have added our Guide Jamyang's photo of a sunny view of Namche Barwa Snow Peak; that he was lucky to get on his way to pick up our Group, about a week back.
We reached Kaddinggou Waterfall site at 9:30am and after buying tickets at the entrance walked around for an hour in the nice forest and Gorge liek trails to see a big waterfall.. Here is brief writeup about this place from Trip.Com web site:
Kadinggou Attraction, also known as Kading Tianfo Waterfall Forest Attraction, is located on the banks of the Niyang River, 24 kilometers from Bayi Town on National Highway 318. The valley is full of towering ancient trees and gurgling water, and the environment is very beautiful. The cliffs on both sides have peculiar shapes, with various images such as big Buddhas and animals. There is also a 200-meter-high Tianfo Waterfall in the depths of the canyon, which is very beautiful. Kadinggou Scenic Attraction is not large. There are steps and plank roads in the Attraction, and you can walk around in about an hour. The main attraction in the Attraction is Tianfo Waterfall. Going up to the viewing platform, the silver chain-like water flows on the cliff, which is very spectacular. When the waterfall is small, it floats down like a silver chain, and when the water is large, it is magnificent and thrilling. There is a naturally formed Buddha statue on the rock wall behind the waterfall. It is said that this is the patron saint of Tibetan compatriots in Linzhi area.

The G-Map showing our Route and the 2 Sites we visited today
We reached Basomtso Lake site by 12:30 pm; but were told Tourist Ticket Sale is stopped till around 2pm; as a Cycling Race Event was taking place at their Site and till that gets over and Prize Distribution is done, they have stopped Tourist admissons. We decided to wait and killed about two hours walking around the huge Entry Plaza and watching the Cycling Race Finishes.
Once the Entry started at 2pm, we went inside and found many big eBuses waiting to take the Tourists to different lake view points. We boarded one bus that took us to the farthest View point about several KMs away, There we had a long walk and finally a climb of several hundred steps to a High Observation Tower to view the huge Lake from that vantage point. See my Pics in Set-1. We then e-Bused back to another place - an Island with a Causeway leading up to a Buddhist Temple and several viewing galleries to see the Lakes and the surrounding snow-peak mountains. See my Pics of this site in Set-2 below.

Lhasa Arrival - 2nd Nov 2025 at 11 pm
We reached Lhasa quite late at night and went to our Lhasa Hotel "Shambala Palace". It was old traditional hotel, built with stone blocks, but with modern conveniences added in renovations.
On reaching we were received by our Tibet Agent Woeser Phil at the Hotel and we were introduced to him and exchanged information on our trip so far. We were all happy with trip so far and so Woeser too was happy it had worked out well; except for the rainy weather at Rawo Lake and Namche Barwa Viewpoint. We are to stay here in Lhasa for 3 nights.
Meanwhile, Woeser said since the weather & roads are good right now, he can add an extra side-trip to Namtso Lake (to-&-fro in 1 day - missing one day of local sights) if people are interested at an extra cost. 7 people from our Group opted for it for next day. Asish, Bhaswati and me decided to stay back and do only the planned local sightseeing.
