Mt Everest morning sunrise view from Rongbuk Hotel Roof Terrace - on 7th November 2025
G-Map Route from Rongbuk Monastery to Nayalam via a detour to see Peiucuo LakeÂ
7th November 2025
We woke up at our EBC hotel with very cold outside temp (-12*C) and we climbed up to the roof observation gallery to see the sunrise. Weather was clear and cloudless. We saw the morning sunrise; not as dramatic as the sunset was yesterday. Today, we are to drive to Nyalam, (the Nepal Border town, where we stay one night) via a side-trip to see the Peuicuco Lake from its South bank.Â
We started in the Eco-Bus at 9:30am from EBC and changed to our Mini-Van at the Transit Center about 40Kms away. We then turned West on G318 and went via the Old Tingri town and then past Nailung Town (around Noon) to Mainpu, where we stopped for lunch around 1 pm at "Namste Nepal and Tibetan Food Restaurant".Â
After lunch we continued our drive West to the South-end of Lake Peiucuo. Our drive was through some awesome high snow peak regions seen to the South of our route. We could see and recognize Mt.Everest and Shishpangma from several vantage points over the snow bound terrain on this section of our ride! Apart fom Snow-bound terrain Electricty Power Lines strung on High Towers was there everywhere most of the time in our picturesÂ
After spending some time viewing the lake we started back the same way for a while and then turned south on G318 towards Nyalam. On the way we stopped at a high Lalung-La / Thong-La Pass (alt: 5144M, at about 5pm) in heavy snow-bound terrain with a huge Gateway Arch and twin golden Elephants statue! Awesome place to stop and walk around taking pictures. Amazing viewpoint!!
We arrived at our Nyalam Hotel at 6:45 pm. This Hotel was in the downtown center of Nyalam near its main square. Later after 8 pm we went to a nearby Restaurant for beer and dinner. Tomorrow last day we will dive to the Zhangmu Border town to cross into Nepal over the Friendship Bridge.Â
