27th may 2006 - 8:00am After breakfast checked out of Tashi Deleg Hotel and walked upto the Jeep stand on main road. After a wait of 45 minutes got a share-Sumo leaving for Manali at 9;10am. The road condition was pretty bad all the way to Rohtang and so the ride was pretty rough.

The river of water seen here is actually portion of the  road we travelled from Keylong to Rohatang and to Manali

Rogtang-La full of tourists

We passed Rohtang-La at 2:00pm in the afternoon. It was full of tourists from Manali, come up to see and play in the snow. Many of the Indians from far corners of India, must be seeing the snow for the first time in their lives! So naturally there was lot of excitement & noise and a festive atmosphere in the whole area. Our Sumo crawled along for the 3-4 Kms before we could get past teh crowds and parked line of jeeps & cars.

Our Sumo reached Manali Bazar by 2:30pm. So it was a five-and-half our ride from Keylang to Manali. Got off and checked into the Rohtang-Inn hotel, in the main road bazar ... Rs 450/- per night for my room.

The next day, 28th May 2006, I visited some local temples.
