Day 18 > Return Trek > from Pheriche to Debuche

Day-18 - 12th October 2007: Pheriche (4240M) to Debuche

We left Pheriche at 7:00AM, after saying good-bye to a few other Trekkers and their Guides, who were headed to Phortse and some to Gokyo. I decided it will be too tiring for me to do Gokyo-Ri & Lake, after having come all the way from Jiri. Besides, Bhavnath was keen to get back home by the Dasain (Dassera) festival. Every time he called his wife and kids they were pleading for him to come home by 18th Oct. So I decided not to disappoint him and his family and we agreed to try and make it back to Lukla & Kathmandu by 17th or earlier (hoping flights are running OK from Lukla to KTM, by then).

It was a pleasant trek today in good sunny weather and easy as mostly mostly down hill via Orsho and Shomare to Debuche.

Next morning looking around Pheriche .... it is a fairly big place!

View down valley .... Kartega & Themaserku from Pheriche

Prayer flags flutter near Orsho ... Kanteg and Thamserku peaks

Sunshine GH ..... at Orsho

Looking back at Pheriche (below clouds) .. after 10 mins of walk

Crossing the Khumbu Khola .... below Pheriche at 7:30AM

Wildflowers and snowy peaks as we near Orsho Homes

Shomare kid at Lumbini Lodge

At 10:40AM after crossing the steel truss bridge to the true left side of Dudh Kosi, we entered the nice trails through green forests full of rhodendrons and shady trees near Debuche.

We reach Shomare and have a tea break here at Lumbini (8:30AM)

Some Yaks panic and take the older lower bridge to cross

Beautiful trail thru nice forest from Debuche to Tengboche.

We decide to stay at this Paradise GH, in a nice forest setting in Debuche (11:40AM) ... and not go on to Tengboche.

Debuche Teahouses start appearing around 11:15AM

Nice garden and lawn of Paradise GH
