00 Pre-Trek

Pre-Trek Activities - at KTM & Bus-ride to Taplejung: 

7th Oct 2015 - I flew from Mumbai (8:00AM dep) to Kathmandu Via Delhi by Air India. Landing in KTM at 3:00PM. Went to my usual Hotel Mountain Peace in Thamel and Checked-In. Met Roger, Paul, Bill and Robbie staying at the Annapurna GH, in the evening at 5:30 PM and with them met Suman (Asian Hiking Team) at his Office to discuss our Trek Plans. He had booked our Bus Ticket for Birta-Mode for 11th Oct. Paid Suman for Manz and my Tickets and Other services including our Guide Shared-fees etc. 

8th -10th Oct 2015 - Shopping in Thamel for various trek items including Jacket, Gloves. Ncell Top up. etc. 

Also as Roger (our Group Leader) suggested had hired porter known to him "Mingma Tamang" for myself. Called Mingma  through his son Pema (in KTM) at Langtang village asking him to reach KTM by 10th evening for our departure to Taplejung in the Bus with us. Evenings Beer / Thukpa etc. with the 4 US guys in our team. 

On 10th Oct met Mingma (44Yrs) my porter at 5:00 PM outside TGH along with Roger, Bill etc. Took Mingma to my GH to show my gear stuff and then to Roger's GH to collect his spare Duffel Bag to stuff my Kit into it, for easy of carrying by Mingma.       

11th Oct 2015 - We took a taxi to the Bus Counter. Ours was a big white Bus with Windshield broken (by protestors from the Plains border areas). Dinesh Rai (Mongolian Dinesh on FB) joined our group as our Guide for the Trek. So we were 7 in all with Mingma. Manz will join us at Taplejung. The Bus departed at 2:00PM. Long ride to eastern end of Nepal. Overnight in Bus. 

12th Oct 2015 - arrived at Birtamode bus stand at 8:00AM. Got off here to Change to another smaller Bus for ride up in the hills to Taplejung. We had an hours break here to have some breakfast and tea. The Bus to Taplejung left at 9:30AM. Hilly roads not very great and finally reached Taplejung after it was dark at 7:30PM. We got our Rooms to stay in Hotel Pathibhara on the 2nd floor. After a Thukpa Soup went to sleep at 9:30PM

13th & 14th Oct 2015 - We had two days Rest in Taplejung. Very much required after the long and tiring bus rides from KTM. In the Hotel we had a balcony with Table and Chairs for our group with a WiFi Router nearby. So most of the time was spent there discussing the trek plans or drinking Tongba a local beer.

On morning of 14th Oct 2015 Manzunath (Manz) from Bangalore arrived at our GH in the morning at 8:30AM. So our group was now complete. We had a Spl Dinner at Hotel Mountain with drinks that evening. Some like Roger didn't join. Dinner wasn't great but the drinks (Rakshi?) was good. My Bill for Pathivara GH was NRs 1525 for two nights including some meals. Tomorrow we plan to start in a share-Jeep to Suketar and start the Trek from there.
