Day-01 Trek from Nayapul to Lespar (via Puranogaon, Deurali)

Day-01 Trek from Nayapul to Lespar via Puranogaon

We left my Pokhara Hotel by Taxi at 6:30AM and reached Nayapul at 7:50AM. After a quick breakfast at at the wayside tea shop we started the trek (8:15AM) by going down from the road to cross the Suspension Bridge over Modi river.

On the other side initially we walked South climbing over several ridges to reach Deopur at 10AM. Continuing to climb higher and higher over several ridges we reached Puranogaon at 11:20AM. This is a biggish village spread out over a big area covering several ridges.

We reached Deorali at 1:40AM. A local guy said Lespar is only 2 Hours away from here. So we assumed we will reach by 4:00PM so continued. But we may have taken a longer route contouring at the same level (rather than going down into valley and climbing up to Lespar) because we reached Lespar at 7:30PM when it was already dark and maybe we lost our way too in the dark.

At Lespar the only Trekker's Teahouse was closed and no amount of banging on the gate and shouting by Nirmal Basnet would wake up the Owner who must have been fast asleep or way to drunk inside. We had nom idea what to do now. Luckily some villagers walked by and agreed to take us to their home for a homestay. The family was quite hospitable and cooked us a hot dal-bhat too. It was a long tiring first day of this trek.
