The plane crossed over the border into Uruguayan airspace.
"Hi, Animal Man," Tobias said, sitting next to Danny with a cheeky grin on his face.
"Ha ha. Very funny," Danny replied.
"I thought so, Animal Man."
"Stop that."
"Stop what, Animal Man?" Tobias was laughing at this point.
Danny took off his jacket and left it in a curled-up ball on the seat next to him.
"You don't like your jacket, Animal Man?"
Danny got up and walked to the door of the plane. He opened it. Everyone had to hold on to their seats as the sudden drop of pressure filled the cabin.
"Danny, what the hell are you--?"
Before Tobias got to the word "doing," Danny jumped out, slamming the door shut behind him.
Dana, the stewardess, stood there looking dumbfounded. Her offer of drinks just didn't have the same dramatic impact it would have had a moment ago.
"Wow. He really can't take a joke, can he?" Tobias said.
"Or perhaps he just noticed the black aircraft that has been following us since we entered Uruguayan airspace," Naecken replied, walking into the cabin from the rear of the plane.
"Dere's a plane followin' us, and you's didn't tell us?" Pete asked.
"I was about to. Then Danny jumped out of the plane. I thought that drew sufficient attention to the matter."
Everyone jumped up and looked out the plane's windows. Sure enough, there was a black stealth aircraft flying below and behind them. They also noticed Danny flying toward it, wings outstretched.
The black craft attempted evasive action, ducking below Danny as he neared it. But he dived downward and grabbed hold of the wing. Pulling himself toward the door, he managed to open it. He jumped into the black plane.
"Is it just me, or has Danny gotten much better at this hero stuff since we've known him?" Tobias said.
"I agree. His confidence and ability have definitely improved," Naecken replied.
They all looked downward at the black craft.
It veered wildly.
It crashed into the rocky ground.
It exploded.
Everyone was silent for a moment, taking in what they had just seen.
"Danny..." Pete whispered.
Suddenly, something shot out of the billowing smoke. It looked remarkably like a man with wings carrying another, non-winged man. And, given the circumstances, that's probably what it was.
As Danny neared the plane, Naecken flung the door open. He flew through and landed in a heap on the floor as the door was quickly shut again.
"Okay, this is the pilot from that black plane. And now we're going to find out why he was following us," Danny said, holding a vicious-looking claw at the captive man's neck.
