Kit Piper stood as the two remaining members of the group took their seats. Danny Hearn and Sam Dawson sat. Here they joined Pete Glover, Tobias Christopher, and Naecken, who had a whole side of the table to himself.
"It appears that the others will not be joining us." Kit paused for a second, carefully choosing his words. "Mick and Lance need a little downtime after the last mission."
He continued, "Mr. Velo has taken a leave of absence, but I'm sure if he was here, he would agree with helping the case I will present to you." Kit placed a file onto the table.
As they looked over the bare details of the case, Kit was then met with a barrage of questions and comments.
"Clay miners?" Sam asked, wondering why they should care.
"Tiatucurá... Uruguay?" Danny asked, wondering what was wrong there.
"People're disappearin'?" Pete commented.
"There is darkness there," Naecken added.
"Yeah, I was just getting to all of that," Kit said. "In Tiatucurá, Uruguay, a mysterious force has hit the clay mining fields. Not only could this take its toll on their economy, but many people, workers with families, have gone missing. No trace. I think we can help them."
"I don't know," Sam blurted out.
"Look," Kit said, sighing, "I talked to the owner of one location, and this could really put our name out. This kind of good rep could help your ultimate cause and give you friends in good places. Would you guys be interested? They want an answer ASAP. You would then fly out right away."
Pete was the first to answer. "I help."
"Yeah, me too. I could use some action instead of being bored around here," Tobias added, always looking for a fight.
"I am in, too," Naecken said, cold and straight to the point.
"I guess so," Danny said, almost sinking into his chair.
"Sorry, guys, but you should be able to handle this without me, right?" Sam said, looking around the table. "After yesterday, I just need a break. Need some healing time."
"Understood. I'll call our client and update him. I'll have a plane set to fly you there in a little bit."
Naecken turned in his chair and said, "Will you come with us?" And he promptly stood up. "I will go to my place and prepare myself."
With that, he walked to the elevator and waited for it to appear, leaving the team with questioning looks on their faces.
Danny said, "Is it just me, or is he getting stranger every day?"
The doorbell rang, and Shirley Francis rushed to open the door. The weather outside was a typical picture of paradise, sunshine with a nice cool breeze that just had enough power to shift a few leaves in the trees.
On the porch she saw a mechanical dog standing there wagging its tail. It said, "Hello. My name is T5, and I need your help."
