by Danny and I'm Not Mister Mxypltk
The islanders were frantic with confusion, having suddenly found themselves glued to the floor. They yelled and screamed, and generally had something of a noisy old time. This all came as quite shock to them, you see. Understandably, of course.
They were, after all, glued to the floor.
A few of them tried to dig themselves out with spears, stabbing frantically at the ground. This course of action soon proved its futility when it was discovered that the spears were just getting stuck along with the legs.
"Enough," Ton-Ton, the leader, finally said, and pulled out a gun, aiming it at M'xy. "Fix this," he said, gesturing to the ground. His voice was quiet but displayed a seething fury.
A shadow passing quickly across the ground suddenly distracted the trapped islanders. After a quick glance downward, they realized -- in a remarkable display of applied physics knowledge -- that whatever was casting the shadow was actually above them.
They all looked up and noticed a silhouette with a huge wingspan circling above them. A few jumped to the logical conclusion that it was some sort of rather large bird. A few more tried to jump literally. This, again, proved to be a futile gesture.
What they had assumed to be a large bird shot down from the sky, seemingly falling toward the ground. It struck the back of the gun-wielding leader, sending them both to the ground in a crumpled heap.
Upon closer inspection, the large bird proved to actually be a man with wings, a comparatively more ridiculous concept, yes, but there it was.
A few of the islanders exchanged curious glances.
The wings retracted, and the man stood up.
"Danny!" M'xy shouted.
"Yeah, I'm here. The others are on their way, but I flew ahead to see if you guys were okay."
"I could've taken care of the gun, you know."
"Yeah, I know. But wasn't my entrance cool?"
"Are you sure they're in there, Pete?" Marv Velo asked, as he, Pete Glover and Naecken ran to the big white mansion that Danny Hearn had just broken into.
"Lance said in a mansion!" Pete replied. "An' I don' see no other mansions here!"
When they reached the mansion, Naecken threw the door down so they could walk in. Before going inside, Velo looked back at the road and said, "Where's Tobias? He should be here by now."
"Why didn't he come with us?" Naecken asked as they looked around the hall, finding it surrounded by weird-looking statues and doors everywhere.
"Apparently he was too busy sleeping," Velo replied without ceasing while carefully examining the place. "He said he'd join us when we got here, something he's capable of doing but hasn't done yet. We need him to fight whatever is holding Lance, M'xy, and Shift here, and he knows it. I find this highly irresponsible of him."
"Oh," Naecken said. He then asked, "Um, don't you think that if there was a fight going on here there would be more noise?"
"Mebbe the fight's over! Mebbe they got some o' that super luck o' mine!" said Pete, following Naecken as they opened doors and checked the other side.
"Could be," Velo said. "But things are too quiet here anyway. Something's wrong."
"Uh..." Naecken began, looking at the other side of a door, "...you're right on that one."
Velo approached the door that Naecken and Pete were standing next to and looked inside. They saw Sam, M'xy, Lance, and Danny lying on the floor, and a woman standing next to them.
"Wh-wha--?" Pete said.
"My name," the woman said, before getting ready to attack. "Is Ma Kalunga."
