Disco Stave, also known as Disco and nicknamed Disco Steve (even though his real name isn't really Steve), is a U.S. metahuman (reality-changing) whose real name is Danny Davis. Disco Stave wears an all-blue costume with a full-face mask that leaves his hair uncovered as well as white gloves, boots and belt. He carries a battle staff (sometimes called his "beating stick") that he inherited from his grandfather, Doctor Dusk.
Danny Davis was born in the summer of 1985 in Florida. His grandfather had been the Golden Age metahero Doctor Disk, who operated as a member of the Mysterymen Board Society in the 1940s.
At the age of 11 in 1996, Danny Davis gained the ability to alter reality itself, a gift from the Moderator. He soon sought out the Six Senses, a team of reality-changing metaheroes, and became the seventh member of the team, now calling itself the Seven Senses. At this time, Davis began receiving training in the use of his reality-altering abilities from team mentor Doug Silver. At the same time he began learning how to fight in hand-to-hand combat from his grandfather, Doctor Dusk. His "graduation" as a professional metahero came when he turned 13, and he began fighting crime solo in Miami, Florida.
In Spring, 1999, during a Seven Senses case when he was 13 years old, Disco Stave met Rhyme Guardian and worked with an early team organized by United Nations Board of Metahumans (UNBOM) chairman, Meta 7. Soon after, the Seven Senses disbanded. When Meta 7 organized the formation of the new Meta Board League, Disco Stave became a founding member. After the original MBL's disbanding, new team leader Rhyme Guardian invited Disco Stave to join the new team, now unconnected to UNBOM. Disco Stave remained with the team, with a few short absences, throughout the MBL's history as its longest-serving member.
Sometime during his first case with the MBL, Disco Stave's reality-altering powers disappeared. After this point, he relied solely on his impressive fighting skills and his battle staff. He often fought crime in Florida, sometimes teaming up with other Florida-based metaheroes.
In his early days as a professional metahero, Disco Stave fought a metavillain named Ringman (a test subject from MagnusCorp's artificial metapower experiments) who had attacked a MagnusCorp press conference. Ringman attacked and killed Barbara Magnus, wife of MagnusCorp chief executive officer, Stephen Magnus. Disco Stave later apprehended Ringman, but Magnus blamed Disco for the death, as did his daughter Amelia Magnus, who also hated Disco's alter ego Danny Davis for no apparent reason. Magnus has been his enemy ever since.
