Walt Curie had never been a rebel. He also never learned to fly a plane. Both of these could have been crucial earlier in life, because now, he was having to do both.
In all the confusion, Curie had shot Knell in the back and grabbed Eddie from his monstrous hands, sneaking aboard his boss' escape vehicle. Now he was a fugitive from his boss, if he was still alive, en route to see the only man who could help him: Dr. Charles Walker.
The snakes adorning the child's head hissed as the child continued to wail in displeasure. He was away from his "father," and he was none too happy about it.
Fumbling for his phone while still trying to steady the controls, Curie punched in Walker's cellular phone number.
"Hello?"
"Walker! Thank God! It's Walt!"
"Walt? What are you doing calling me on this number?"
"I didn't know of any other way to get in touch with you, and I need help!"
"What kind of help?"
"I need a safe house! I just busted out of Knell's fortress in the middle of a battle with those 'Revolutionaries'! He's still back there fighting, but when he's done..."
"Sorry, man. Forget it. Too risky. Besides, you're not a metahuman. This is a metahuman racket, after all."
"But, you don't understand! I..."
"Sorry, pal, but I just can't do it..."
Curie paused, pondering his next move. "What if I had something you needed?"
"Such as...?"
"The dossiers on those 'Revolutionaries,' to start... pirated from the Malvan-X mainframe."
"That it?" Walker asked, his angst beginning to become noticeable through his inflection.
"Uh... no! I also have Eddie!" Curie said, looking back at the crying baby boy.
"Who?"
"You know! Eddie! Knell's genetically spliced and enhanced clone of Cicciotto!"
Another pause, this one on Walker's end. "All right, you convinced me. I'm transmitting coordinates to you now."
Curie sighed in relief as the numbers began to pop up on his phone.
"Oh, and please don't mind the mess when you get in," Walker added. "We've just finished... entertaining."
