by I'm Not Mister Mxyptlk and T5
M'xy was dodging the attacks of the monster, waiting for Naecken, who seemed to know more about this than he did, to lead him. Then he noticed that Naecken was dodging the attacks of the monster as well.
Naecken said, "Honestly, M'xy. I think this is more than we can handle."
"W-what?" M'xy said, stuttering. "C'mon, don't say that."
"I'd be lying if I said anything else, M'xy."
"Damn..." muttered M'xy. "WATCH OUT!"
Naecken saw M'xy pointing at something behind him, then looked back and saw the shadow creature with its mouth open coming quickly to him. Then all he saw was darkness.
"NAECKEN!" M'xy, shocked, skipped the head of the monster at the last second.
"It... ate him..." M'xy said. "It ate Naecken..."
M'xy started gathering energy in his right hand, to blast it at the shadow monster, like he had seen Naecken doing before. The monster opened its mouth and headed in to M'xy again. M'xy stayed there, waiting for enough energy to gather in his hand. When the monster was two inches from M'xy, he decided to blast the energy.
"TAKE THIS MOTHERFU-- uh-oh..." M'xy realized his blast wasn't powerful enough one second before he was swallowed by the monster, like Naecken.
Darkness. Imagine the sound of a drop of water hitting the surface of a lake. The absence of light was overwhelming, claustrophobic, even. Naecken's inner selves screamed at the void.
But wait... a glimmer in the darkness. Far away, a small light burned. Naecken used his senses to probe it. It was the man called M'xy, his soul glowing in the obsidian space of... where?
M'xy felt the probing forces of Naecken and turned toward him. On the brink of total breakdown, he reached out toward Naecken, who somehow drew closer to M'xy, and finally the two grabbed each other's hand.
"My Quadinc persona has the solution. I must merge with the shadow being, as I have merged before. I will become six instead of five. But it will cost me my current personality. The angel inside me has the power to negate this monster, and in doing so, liberate all the possessed. I/we will die... but I hope that I will be remembered."
"NO!" screamed M'xy. "We will figure out another way... we can do this together... I can..."
"No, this is for the best. I was never suited for your plane of existence. I was too dangerous. Goodbye, M'xy. Say hello to the others and tell them to practise the circus act... God knows they need it," Naecken said with a smile, and shoved M'xy away.
M'xy found himself on the street again, and the shadow monster was writhing and roaring at the top of its ability. Suddenly, the famous cold blue glow that Naecken usually emitted surrounded the monster. It screamed in agony. And all the possessed stopped in their tracks, their eyes now having the same color as the glowing aura.
M'xy witnessed the impossible. The monster shrunk, and suddenly imploded on itself, twisting away at an impossible angle through an otherdimensional pinhole. The resulting sucking sound of air and street dust getting caught up in the event horizon sounded like a vacuum cleaner gone bust.
The only thing remaining of the huge monster and Naecken was a totally black version of him. M'xy walked closer to inspect the once-blue angelic being. The same body but black, a bit more muscular. The eyes opened, and the red glow within showed no feelings at all.
"Who? Where? Mmmm... mmmmyy... M'xy?" asked a dark voice, not at all at the same pitch as Naecken's.
"Yes. Who are you?"
"I... I... don't know. Where is this?"
"Chicago, America, Earth."
"Oh... we live here?"
"Oh boy... you need help. I better get you to the others."
All around them, confused people woke up, like out of a weird, sweaty nightmare.
